Downloading Shorts

Shorts behave slightly differently to regular uploads. Here is what changes.

Will the downloaded Short have a watermark?
No. This fetches the original file that YouTube serves, so there is no YouTube logo, no username overlay and no "Shorts" badge. If the creator burned a watermark into the video before uploading it, that one stays - nothing can remove it.
Can I download a Short on my phone?
Yes. Copy the link from the Share sheet in the YouTube app, then paste it here in your mobile browser. The file saves to your normal Downloads folder.
What resolution do Shorts download at?
Most Shorts are published at 1080×1920 and download at that size. Some older or lower-bitrate Shorts top out at 720p. The format list always shows exactly what is available for the specific Short you pasted.
Does a /shorts/ link work, or do I need the watch link?
Both work. youtube.com/shorts/ID and youtube.com/watch?v=ID point at the same video, and so does a youtu.be/ID share link.
Can I download just the audio from a Short?
Yes - switch to the "Audio only" tab after fetching, or use the dedicated MP3 page if audio is all you ever want.
Can I repost a Short I downloaded?
Only with the creator's permission. Downloading for personal viewing is one thing; re-uploading someone else's Short to your own account is copyright infringement and will usually get the reupload taken down.
